How do I get to Know God?
God loves you very much and He wants you to go to heaven. God’s Word says:
“For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish, but have eternal life.” (John 3.16)
But God knows that you cannot get to heaven on your own because of your sin. God’s Word says that we are sinners by nature – we are born that way; and by choice – we continually act in ways that are different from God’s standards. God’s Word says:
“For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” (Romans 3.23)
So because of His love for you, God has provided a way for you to know His love and receive forgiveness for your sins. God’s Word says:
“But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.” (Romans 5.8)
Therefore, you have a choice: you can suffer the consequences of your sins on your own; or you can choose to receive the gift of eternal life that God offers you in Jesus. God’s Word says:
“For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” (Romans 6.23)
To receive the gift of eternal life that God offers you in Jesus, confess that Jesus died for your sins and believe in Him as your Savior. God’s Word says:
“If you confess with your mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord,’ and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 With the heart one believes, resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth one confesses, resulting in salvation.” (Romans 10.9-10)
God’s Word says:
“For everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.” (Romans 10:13)
Would you like to invite Jesus into your heart to be your Savior and forgive you of your sins? If you would, then pray this prayer:
Lord Jesus, I know I am a sinner and have displeased You in many ways. I believe you died for my sins and only through faith in You can I receive forgiveness for my sins. I want to turn from my sin and ask You to come into my life as my Savior and Lord. From now on I will follow you and do what you want for my life. Thank You, Jesus, for dying on the cross for my sins and rising from the dead to give me the promise of eternal life. Amen.
